Responsible Supply Chain

We work to ensure safe, healthy, and fair working conditions in our supply chain.

Meta is committed to ensuring suppliers conform with applicable international human rights standards, labor and employment laws, environmental rules, and regulations.

Through our Responsible Supply Chain program, Meta provides suppliers with a comprehensive framework of standards and expectations that guides our partnerships. The program is anchored in our commitment to protect the health and wellbeing of workers and communities where we operate in our value chain by addressing key issues, including responsible minerals sourcing, labor and human rights, health and safety, environmental responsibility, ethics, and management systems.

Understanding Priority Issues in Our Global Supply Chain

We proactively engage with our supply chain partners to understand issues at a root cause level while taking into account what is most relevant to their individual work environments. We deepen our understanding through supplier dialogue, collecting worker sentiment via mobile and tablet-enabled surveys, and independent audits.

This approach has allowed us to effectively prioritize issues, develop collaborative and transparent relationships with key suppliers, support capacity building in areas that are most meaningful, and to respond quickly to challenges as they arise.

Climate Resilience and Greenhouse Gas Reduction

We strive to help our suppliers understand their environmental challenges and reduce their impact by collecting environmental data, such as greenhouse gas emissions and energy, to see where and how Meta can engage more deeply. We conduct physical climate risk assessments of our global manufacturing supply chain footprint to help ensure suppliers are prepared for the potential climate risks that they may face.

We partner with suppliers facing some of the highest risks to integrate climate resilience into their emergency planning and business continuity practices, as well as identify ways to help suppliers reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions through capability building programs such as greenhouse gas accounting & reporting or energy efficiency assessments, in support of our goal to achieve net zero emissions across our value chain by 2030.

Protecting Workers Across Our Value Chain

The health and wellbeing of supply chain workers are a top priority. We partner closely with suppliers to ensure safe, healthy and fair working conditions for workers in our global supply chain. Our  Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement outlines our commitment to combatting forced labor in our supply chain.

Driving Circularity in Our Supply Chain

To support our commitment to achieve net zero emissions across our value chain, we embed circular design principles into how we design, build, and operate. Within our supply chain, we find ways to include recycled materials in our hardware and product designs. When our hardware and devices reach end of life, we work with downstream recyclers and partners to ensure responsible treatment of electronic waste through our e-waste assurance program.

Collaborating with Stakeholders

We recognize that our products are part of a complex value chain and effectively addressing systemic issues requires collaboration with others. That is why we are actively involved in and share ideas with the broader community to develop solutions that can benefit the industry.

We are a member of the Responsible Business Alliance, Responsible Minerals Initiative, and Responsible Labor Initiative, multi-stakeholder and industry-wide initiatives, and we continue to look for ways to facilitate and maintain responsible value chains worldwide.
